While The Wolf Among Us is certainly one of the most popular games of the year, going by the number of sales, whether or not it has lived up to the hype is still up for debate.

The Wolf Among Us

The Wolf Among Us is set decades before the other fables games, and it largely follows a community of fables living in the human world along side humans. In order to fit in, all fables are required to buy a “glamour”, which works to change the appearance of the holder into a human resemblance.

The gameplay itself is much like a previous game developed by Telltale, The Walking Dead, in that you are required to make choices, both in action events and through “conversation trees”, and those choices can have far reaching consequences throughout the storyline and throughout your interactions with NPC’s. Just like with The Walking Dead, you can compare your choices to other real players of the game, and compare results.

Most people who have already experienced the gameplay through The Walking Dead reach the conclusion that this is a worse game in comparison, although it is still worth playing. If you aren’t familiar with the gameplay, then it provides a good opportunity to experience a largely unique variety of game. When you compare the game to others looked upon as contenders for game of the year, you will find it difficult to see how it can compete with them.
